Work, with
a record.

The why behind a decision deserves a place beside the what. A quieter way to keep ownership, context, and next steps together.

Less retracing.
More understanding.

Explore a small, fictional operating ledger. Switch between open questions and settled decisions to see how the same record can hold both.

02 — THE OPERATING PRACTICE
i.

Write the situation.

Start with the question in front of you. Separate what is known from what the team is assuming.

ii.

Name the next move.

Give the decision an owner and a specific action. A small, clear step is easier to discuss than a vague ambition.

iii.

Leave a review point.

Say what would make the decision worth revisiting. Keep the reasoning available for whoever picks it up next.

In the margin.

Some notes on what this workspace idea is meant to do — and where a good operating habit begins.

What belongs in a decision record?

The question, relevant context, the chosen direction, an owner, and a review condition. Capture enough reasoning for a future reader to understand the choice.

How is this different from a task list?

A task says what to do. A decision record adds why that action makes sense, what was considered, and when the answer might need to change.

Can I use a live workspace here?

This is a product concept with illustrative entries. The page does not create accounts, store team information, or connect to other services.
